Progress Checks:
Progress Checks will be in your boxes by Thursday 9/29. The Progress Check is a way to see how the whole school is performing towards achievement and growth of math standards during the same window of time. The Progress Checks are intended to be given every six weeks of school. Instead of testing all on the same day, the timeline has been extended to a five day window to give the test. There is no grading needed of the Progress Checks, students can write on their paper test, but then need to fill out the Scantron-like (Akindi) sheet. The sheets will be processed and you will have the results within the hour of how your class performed! The Progress Check System will serve as progress monitoring for Mathematics; producing comparable data each time. Every Progress Check will have sixteen questions mostly made up of topics just taught and a few review topics. Please put finished Akindi sheets in Tawnia’s box when done, before 10/6/16.
Progress Monitoring
After consulting and planning with members of each grade level, a Progress Monitoring Plan that informs your instruction has been formed. Instead of weekly or biweekly DIBEL Progress Monitoring, staff has chosen to utilize an alternate plan. This year, Progress Monitoring will be done school wide every six weeks. You may increase the frequency of Progress Monitoring if you so choose, or if you intend on a particular student needing to be discussed at the Intervention Team Meetings. All data will be uploaded into the Homeroom System for documenting purposes. Progress Monitoring needs to happen for every child who is “well below grade level” and most students who are “below grade level”. Below is a breakdown of the plan:
Math: Kinder: rote counting, counting on, counting back (document on google sheet)
1-5: Progress Checks
Reading: Kinder: letter naming, letter sounds, cvc words (document on google sheet)
1: DRA (document on google sheet)
2: Modified Core Reading Survey (click here for google sheet)
3-5: STAR Reading Test
Instructional Schedule:
Under the “Schedules” tab is the verified instructional schedule link (or click here). To accommodate the requests to have individual classroom schedules, please update your instructional schedule by clicking on your name at the bottom of the sheet and updating your schedule. If your grade level is instructing using the same schedule, make sure the “whole school” sheet is accurate.
Assessment News
Under the “Assessment” tab is “Assessment at a Glance” (or click here). The benchmarking school-wide assessments are noted on the first page.
The Blog is back up, we will get it updated ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

3-5 Grade Teachers SBA Testing Site Password Reset
3-5 grade teachers should have received an email telling you to reset your password for access to the AIR TIDE system. Please take care of that immediately. If you don't do this within 30 days you have to request a new change password link. That's a hassle so please take care of it soon.

Help spread the word re: Eating on the bus
We received a message from the district office regarding students eating on the bus.
"Please take a minute to guide your staff to remind students that they should not be eating popcorn, suckers or any other candy on the bus ride home."
I'm not sure what prompted this but as you can imagine it is likely associated with choking hazards, issues with sharing and the mess it can make on the bus.

Dismissal/Bus Duty
If you are on bus duty, please be at your location at 3:40.
If you are NOT on bus duty, please do not dismiss your students until 3:45. This will give the duty people enough time to get to their location.
Mareesha's Sub
Please welcome Bill Yost back as our counselor substitute. For those who were here two years ago when Allison Meeks had her baby and needed a sub, you will be familiar with Bill. He is here today and ready to get started filling in for Mareesha. Mareesha is planning to be back at the end of September.
