Late Arrival Schedule
Looking at the SIP and the requirements for having a PD plan, I am going to try something new tomorrow. I would like everyone to meet in the library for 30 minutes. If we don't have a small slot like this on later arrivals there won't be enough days to cover our SIP goals in terms of training.
At that time I will be continue learning about an expanded form of Teacher Efficacy. It is called Collective Teacher Efficacy.
After the 30 minute slot you will get into your PLC teams as usual until 10:45.
The schedule will be as follows:
8:45 - 9:15 All staff in the Library
9:20 5th Grade SCRUM
9:30 4th Grade SCRUM
9:45 3rd Grade SCRUM
9:55 2nd Grade SCRUM
10:05 1st Grade SCRUM
10:15 K SCRUM
Please be on time so we can get started right away at 8:45
Safe Schools Messages
This is an FYI that I have communicated with HR regarding all staff who were at the August 30 Teacher Day and saw the three required videos on Diabetes, Asthma and Life Threatening Allergies. You should stop getting those emails saying you hadn't completed them. ~SR~
Blog Access
I met with our computer tech today and we were able to figure out a solution for how to get the blog up and running on computers that are having a problem. If you could please do one of the following, we would like to help you get access to the blog again.
1. Bring your laptop to one Stephen, Tawnia or Kathy. We will explain the fix so you can do it also.
- OR -
2. Schedule a time for Stephen, Tawnia or Kathy to come to your room to work on your laptop or desktop machine or both. We will explain the fix so you can do it also.
3. Bring your laptop home or other location that has wifi that you can access and open the blog in your browser just as you would at school. Once you have successfully loaded the site you should be able to see the site when you get to school. The main thing is to not clear your browser's history or cache. This has worked for others but if it doesn't for you, please try Step 1 or Step 2 above.
This fix might fail at some time for reasons unknown and you should just set it up again using the procedure we show you. ~SR~

Attendance
Conferences are a great time to talk attendance. Please remember to send in notes or forward emails regarding student absences to Cathy ASAP. She can document that as an excused absence and and saves her for making parent phone calls. Also, if you talk with a parent and happen to discuss attendance, please email Cathy. There are many new requirements regarding attendance and all information can be useful.

District Visitors
Throughout the school year, administrators from the district office will visit schools. They will take a walk around the school and observe in classrooms. You don't need to stop to talk with them or introduce them. They don't want to interfere with your class activities, just to learn about the great things that are going on in classrooms across the district. Also, please know that they are not there in an evaluative capacity.
The administrators you may see are Superintendent Seigel, Asst. Supt. Hammond and/or Exec. Dir. Boyton.

Earthquake Drill - Thursday, Oct. 20 at 10:20 am
We will be practicing our first earthquake drill this Thursday. You will hear an announcement of an earthquake drill followed by some earthquake sounds (30 sec.). Please stop, drop and cover. When the all clear announcement has been made, please stand and have them line up to leave the room (similar to a Fire Drill). You can talk with kids about how we would then evacuate the building in a real emergency. For today's practice, we will NOT exit the building. Please click Earthquake Procedures on Husky Highlights to review earthquake practice.
See Kathy Horton-Schmidt with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
