Recess Reminder
Please pick up your kids from recess on time. If you do not, it causes problems for the duties that are 1) watching the kids waiting to get picked up AND 2) supervising the new batch of kids coming out for recess. Thank you. (11/26)
Stipend Funds Available
There have been a couple changes in BEAAA stipends. Jillian Nintze will be helping Jamie Rohwer on the musical, so art club is being cancelled. This results in an extra $406 left in our stipend fund. Please ask Leslie for an application if you wish to apply for these additional funds. (11/24)
New Faxing Instructions
We will now be using FaxCore to send faxes. You can fax from either of the Sharp copiers. Instructions are taped to the cabinet above the copiers, so please look these over before faxing as it will not work the old way. There is a pullout keyboard that makes typing in the info easier. Our login and password are NS and PASSWORD Hopefully the new system will result in fewer fax errors. All incoming faxes will now come to the printer in the office. (11/24)
Holiday Shop Sign-Up
Please sign up for a time to take your class to the Holiday Shop, which will be located in Room 19 from 12/8 to 12/12. Times are set up in 45 minute blocks. The sign-up sheet is located on the counter in the office. (11/21)

Fire Extinguishers
Do you know where the fire extinguishers are? Please take a few minutes to find the location of those closest to your work area. (11/21)
Grades and Gradebook Comments
Fire Drill Feedback
We are sooo efficient! Eight minutes from start to finish is amazing (Jack timed it at 6 1/2 minutes). Thank you all. Just a couple of things: your doors need to stay unlocked. If there was a fire, the fire department needs to be able to access all rooms. And please remember to hang your Evacuated sign on your door on the way out. Thanks again. (11/20)
Stephen's Schedule This Week 11/17 - 11/21
I am out today, Tuesday and Wednesday with taking care of my mom who is having spine surgery. Thursday morning is the first physical therapy appointment for Sarah. I will be in around 9:45 AM. I will communicate the set schedule once we know what it is. Today is her first day of school. She is nervous but I am confident she will make progress towards getting back to normal activities even though there will be limitations for the months ahead.
Sara Olson from Shining Mt. Elementary is available by phone today and will be in the building on Wednesday until around 1:30. (11/18)
Principal Rounds
This Friday a few principals will be visiting NS as part of something called Instructional Rounds. We have been asked to make our schools available and to visit each others' schools to do several things: Reduce the isolation that principals experience in doing their jobs through... Learning from one another when engaged in the activity of observing in classrooms; Calibrating observation look fors; Improving instructional supervision processes/systems; and Developing common language that enhances principal discussions when meeting as an administrative team. All 2nd, 4th and 5th grade teachers should be prepared to have visitors during their math instruction on that day. (11/18)
Assembly Behavior
Seems like we had an unruly PARENT at one of our Veteran's Day assemblies last week and there was some discussion as to how to handle this. Should this happen in the future, contact the office immediately (either yourself or send a student). We'll assess the situation and decide if we need to call our SRO or 911 to have the parent removed. (11/17)
Fire Drill Scheduled
We'll have a fire drill on Thursday, 11/20, at 2:40 p.m. (11/17)
Change in Meeting Calendar
Change of dates: December 3 has been changed to a team meeting date because leadership will be out that day. December 17 will be changed to an all-staff meeting date, and I do believe Sunshine has some special plans . . . (11/17)
Game Night
This is info from PTA: Game night is a service we are offering to parents. Parents have the option to purchase common core aligned games and there will be 8 games to try out at game night. This is a free event for parents to come to and it runs from 6-8pm. We did cover this in the staff meeting with the teachers. We know that the flyers say fundraiser but we are not treating it like that. (11/17)
Stephen's Schedule
Stephen is planning on being here on Thursday, 11/13. He will be out Mon, Wed, and Fri of this week. We will have administrative help available from Shining Mountain, if needed. (11/10)
Staff Room Sign-Up
Please consider signing up for staff room duty; there are many openings and we hope that everyone will take a turn or share a week with a co-worker. Duty consists of unloading the dishwasher in the morning, loading and starting the dishwasher in the afternoon, and wiping down the tables and general clean up throughout the week. Providing food and/or decorations is optional. The sign-up sheet is posted on one of the refrigerators. Thanks. (11/10)
Late Arrival - November 12
The agenda for our next Late Arrival is on the link to your left. You will also find the notes from the last Leadership Team meeting. (11/7)
Surplus
It's time to get surplus ready for winter pickup. Please identify things in your rooms that need to go (broken, obsolete, etc.) and fill out the surplus form (which will be emailed out). At this point, we only need a list. We will collect these items later for pickup during winter break. (11/4)
Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be in room 19 from 11:15 to 1:30. Staff should have a picture taken if you didn't last time. We will have a volunteer working to bring students to the picture room. They will need their pictures from last month if they are getting retakes, or they will need a new picture envelope if they are new since 9/29. (11/3)
First Aid Training
Elk Plain K-8 is hosting a CPR/First Aid/AED training on November 17 (5:00-7:30 PM) & 18 (2:30-5:00 PM). If you would like to register for the class, contact Peggy Brayton at Elk Plain at 683-7991. The cost is $10 non-refundable class fee due when you register. (11/3)
